There is not normally a show on a Sunday, but sometimes when you have a special guest or you are talking about a special even you just have to put an extra show. Tonights show was one of those special events.

My guests tonight on “A Book and a Chat” were Michelle (Galley Smith) and Trish (Hey Lady Whatcha Readin’), two of the people behind a wonderful event being held in New York in May of this year.

These two ladies along with Amy (My Friend Amy), Natasha (Maw Books), Nicole (Linus’s Blanket), Pam (Mother Reader), Rebecca (The Book Lady’s Blog) are the powers behind this the first annual “BOOK BLOGGER CONVENTION”.

The event was first announced to the blogging community back at the start of this year, though word had already escaped that on Friday May 28th, 2010 in New York City the first annual Book Blogger Convention will commence.

As we heard during the show, this was just the start, as the event got more and more exposure, the numbers of those wanting to attend grow. Being recognized and officially affiliating with the BEA (Book Expo America) enabled the Book Blogger Convention will be held directly at the Jacob Javits Center alongside BEA .

Providing more space, contacts with authors, and being able to bundle a joint badge for both the Bea and the BBC (not the English one but the Book Blogger Convention).

A Michelle and Trish shared during this fascination show; the event has just grown, with some of the hardest parts being to actually choose the various panelists and moderators for the event. These will cover subjects from “Marketing” to “Professionalism and Ethics in Blogging”. As well as these panels and guests Trish and Michelle also shared with us during the show that Maureen Johnson would be the keynote speaker for this first annual Book Blogger Convention.

Maureen Johnson is the author of books such as Suite Scarlett and 13 Little Blue Envelopes. A frequent blogger and a regular on the social media scene Ms. Johnson will also give participants an insider’s view of the publishing industry and its relationship with digital media.

As well as the actual BBC, there will now also be a chance for authors, bloggers, publishers and anyone who happens to be at BEA that day to meet at the “The Book Blogger Convention Reception”. This will be on Thursday May 27th from 4-6pm at the Jacob K. Javits Center (room to be announced later). It is open to anybody who wants to attend, costing $20 for which you get snacks, networking and chance to meet cool authors and bloggers alike.

As we chatted through an enjoyable hour about the event, it was obvious to see that this will be one trip to New York that even I’m not going to miss. Just meeting bloggers, authors and people from the industry, being able to share the knowledge and experience across all subjects and genres, will I’m sure be a chance not to miss.

So check out http://bookbloggerconvention.com, for all the details about this great event.

If you head for Jacob Javits Center in New York on May 28th (Registration will begin at 7:30am, and the convention itself will start at 9:00am) I for one, will see you there.

So why not stop by and listen to “A Book and a Chat with Michelle and Trish – “Book Blogger Convention” or else down load the file and listen at your conveniance.

January is YA Radio month on A Book and a Chat, with special guest throughout the month, not only authors but bloggers as well.

So what do you get if you cross the daughter of a spy with Jane Austen?

One answer might be Sarah MacLean my guest on today’s “A Book and a Chat”.

Sarah was one of the authors that many wanted to be included in my YA Radio Week, her book “The Season” has been one of the most popular YA novel over the last year.

January is YA Radio month on A Book and a Chat, with special guest throughout the month, not only authors but bloggers as well.

My guest on today’s YA MONTH – “A Book and a Chat” was one of the YA bloggers I call the Sham-wow of Young Adult LiteratureTirzah who writes in the blog “The Compulsive Reader”.

The show as normal was full of interest and entertainment and Tirzah shared with us how her love of reading had lead her to produce not only her blog, but reviews and book trailers amongst other items. In fact there seems no stopping her. With over a thousand book, I’m sure she’ll have her own library soon.

Many interesting questions were put to Tirzah from people in the chat room, to which she supplied some really interesting answers.

During the show we learned about her favorite books both ones she reads as “comfort books” as well as sharing with us not only her most enjoyed books of 2009 along with some she is looking forward to reading in 2010. We also found out that Tirzah would have loved to have been around in the early twentieth century, chaining herself to railings and shouting “votes for women”.

To find out about this and so much more listen to “YA Month – A Book and a Chat with “Tirzah” and her blog “The Compulsive Reader

As anybody who has read me reviews interviews or heard my comments on either my own radio program or where I have been a guest, you will know I am a great believer in what I call the “Small Blogger”. These are the people who read, write and live books are “The ‘sham wow’ of Teen/YA literature”.

So let’s welcome today’s interview guest… Amelia

BLOG NAME: Book Junkie

BLOG SITE: bookjunkiereviews.blogspot.com

So Amelia how long have you been blogging?

9 or 10 months.

What books do you like to read?

I’ll read pretty much any genre. I’m not a big fan of non-fiction, but there’s always exceptions. Reading is my escape from the world, so I prefer fantasy/supernatural books.

What is your favorite book and author of 2009?

Ooh tough one. Right now I’d say… Willow by Julia Hoban. I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s amazing so far.

What is your favorite author/book of all time?

Acheron/Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

How many books do you have in your library?

Oh I really don’t want to count them right now. It was 225 a month ago.

225 books…wow! How many books do you read a week?

In a good week, 5-7. (My best week I read 8) A bad week 0-2.

I enjoy visiting your site and I see you have won a lot of awards. Not counting yours, what is your favorite blog to follow?

Dahlia’s Eclectic Mind ( http://dahliaseclecticmind.blogspot..com/ ) or Bites ( http://litbites.blogspot.com/ )

When is your favorite time/location to read?

Night on my couch. The only time and place my house is relatively quiet..

If you could be a character in any book who would that be and why?

I’d be… Tory from Acheron. (If you haven’t read Acheron, spoiler warning.) She’s smart, she ends up marrying Ash, she’s gets a ton of powers from his mother, and many other reasons.

Have you ever thought about or actually written a book yourself?

Yes. I’ve had a lot (I think 15) book ideas in the past 2 years or so, but I haven’t been able to sit down and write them yet.

If you had a chance to advertise your blog in any way you could, what would you chose and why?

Larry King will interview me with one of my favorite authors, because it just popped in my head 🙂

If you had a chance to interview any one author who would that be and why?

Sherrilyn Kenyon. She’s my favorite author, and her books are a godsend. Plus, she lives like an hour away from me, so that’s pretty cool.

What is one thing about you that readers might not know?

That I’m gothic. I don’t act like a lot of goths, I just love the clothes. Hot Topic+credit card=happiness

Another one is that I’m 16. Some authors have asked my to review their book then find out my age and have second thoughts.

If people are interested in being a guest on your blog or sending a book to you and your blog what is the best way to contact you?

Email, cullenwan2b@yahoo.com is my “business” email.

Amelia, thank you so much for being my guest on todays blog, keep up the great work you and bloggers like you do. I hope you get the time to write that book of yours soon, and keep fighting to save those whales (you need to check Amelia’s blog)

Thanks for interviewing me, it’s fun being on the other side of the questions.
